Third Annual Youth Debate, April 25, 2010

Dear Friends

 As announced earlier, the third Annual Debate competition for our youth will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 1PM in Broward Community College.  This event is organized by APPSF and is divided into two categories: 

 

CATEGORY

Middle School Category
(Grade 6th -8th)

High School and College
(Grade 9th and above)

Rules:

  1. Each participant will be required to speak on topic for at least 3 minutes and can go to a maximum of 5 minutes.
  2. A panel of three impartial judges from the academic community will observe and will be the final word in selecting winners.
  3. The winners will be awarded shields and trophies.
  4. There is a nominal fee of $25.00 per participant+ $5.00 per attendee to cover the expenses.  A check made out to “APPSF” must be received by any APPSF office holder by April 21, 2010.
  5. Please R.S.V.P. with the name and age of the participant and whether your child will speak “for” or “against” the topic.  Acceptance will be confirmed promptly.
  6. To maintain equal number of speakers on each side of the respective categories, random participants may be re-assigned either “for” or “against.”

The participants are encouraged to wear semi-formal to formal attire for this event.

Program:

1 PM:                Arrival of participants and family at BCC Building.

1 – 2 PM:           Snacks will be served to all attendees, courtesy of APPSF.

2 – 4 PM            Debate and conclusion.
